Last Supper Box
I've been making a lot of boxes lately and thought I would share one that I really liked.
James from Vector Art 3D inspired me to make a carving of the last Supper with a Vcarve back ground of the room and inlayed figures. I was reading all I could find on the last Supper in the forum and found the following thread by James.
http://www.vectric.com/forum/viewtopic. ... ast+supper
I downloaded the free Vcarve files, purchased the Last Supper models from Vector Art 3D files and layed out the box.
I wanted to do this on a box lid so I used the box design that was designed by Michael Tyler from the Vectric project of the month for March 2011. I really like the box Michael designed, it gives you quite a bit of room to carve whatever you want. My wife likes it because it's large enough to use in decorating and gives a nice presence.
Thanks to Michael T and James B and of course Vectric for the inspiration and a program that's fantastic.
Thanks for looking.
Mark

H[ Mark.
that is certainly a very nice job. It looks 100%. What is the carving and wording on the front?
Again a well executed job. Thanks for sharing.
Cheers,
Roger.

Re: Last Supper Box
Roger- That picture didn't show the front very well so I took another one. The front is Vector Art 3D of the Bible inlayed and the words are from Luke- 22:19. Hope you can read this picture better, the gold paint didn't show up as well as I hoped.
Thanks guys for the kind words, it's been a bit of a struggle but I'm feeling a little more comfortable these days.

Very nice work! I haven't done anything in walnut yet... now I want to try it.
I always wonder why they all sat on the same side of the table.

Re: Last Supper Box
Walnut carves really nice, at least for me. It's not the least expensive wood but not the most expensive either. I also like Bloodwood, it carves nicely to but it can chip a little as well.
Jim-I think in the time they would probably been sitting on the floor and in a circle facing each other but it's hard to paint a picture like that and get everyone in it.

Re: Last Supper Box
Mark,
That came out really well. Its always nice to see an idea become reality and then even better if it works too - The different colors and finish you used really make this look special.
Cheers,
James

Hi Mark,
I've always liked the last supper model but you have taken it to new heights.
Congratulations

Re: Last Supper Box
Thanks guys, it's really nice to have so many appreciate ones work. This forum is certainly one of the best things about using a CNC machine. I've learned so much and continuing learning almost every day.
