Fishscale Texture Tutorial

Post by spinningwood »

Viktor started a model sharing thread in the Gallery. That inspired me to create a tutorial for creating a fish scale texture (if you emailed me asking how I did the dragon scale, this is it  ). I think I've created a simple easy to follow tutorial  . Maybe I succeeded, but maybe I didn't. Mabye it's not so easy to follow if you haven't done this before. Seems easy to me though. :P

Rather than dump this in Viktor's model sharing thread, I'm starting a new topic here in Tips. It will be easier to keep track of (and respond to) any follow up questions anyone may have.

The approach I documented isn't the only way to do this. It's just the way I chose to document. Hope you find it useful.

You should find an image of the texture created in the tutorial and a tutorial pdf attached to this message.

Did anybody find this useful? I don't want to spend the time doing another one if this one didn't help anybody.

I am sure I will find it immensely useful in the near future. At the present time I am so busy I cannot get to it. I have studied your tutorial and it all looks good. I really appreciate your doing that.

Anything you can post in the future will be equally appreciated.

Thank you,

Ed, thanks for the tutorial. I find it useful to follow an-others logic an point of view, to clarify what I know about Aspire methods. Dan

I agree there's so much to do or want to do that it hard to get to all of it. This forum is a gold mine of information and I for one really appreciate it. I know how much time it takes to work up something like this. Great job and please keep posting and hopefully some of us will get to it soon. :D

Great! Glad you found it useful. After I complete the current project I am working on, I should be able to pull together another tutorial. If the project doesn't crash and burn, maybe it will be a technique for a building block approach to celtic knot design.

Ed, It's all good when we share.
Thanks for you information.
We just started doing a few new items where your tutorial will come in handy.
