"Hunter's Cabin Birdhouse" -CarveWright Project of the Month

Post by mtylerfl »

Hello,

Here is the latest project I created with Aspire for the CarveWright Project of the Month (for March 2011). The Hunter’s Cabin Birdhouse features a log cabin style complete with a gently curved 'shingled' roof, plus a simple nail-hinged side panel for easy cleaning. The crooked wooden stovepipe chimney is an optional item created from scrap dowels to add an additional touch of charm to this rustic cabin birdhouse. The overall finished dimensions of the assembled Hunter’s Cabin Birdhouse project are about 7" wide x 9" tall x 10" long.

The entire project is designed to be carved and cut out with just the two standard bits that come with the CarveWright machine (a tapered 1/16" ballnose and a 1/8" straight cutting bit).

• I created all the models in Aspire 3
• I exported the Aspire models as STL, then imported and converted them (via the CarveWright STL Importer) into the CarveWright PTN (pattern) format
• I created the final cut out profiles directly in the CarveWright Designer software

Thanks, all.

Hey Nick - you're gonna get me in trouble with that TP holder yet!

Hi rej,

I'm sorry I can't offer the files or STL's for the CarveWright projects - exclusivity agreement with them. However, a new Vectric project will be coming out very soon! It's not a birdhouse, but I hope you will still enjoy it!

Hey Michael,

Another beautiful project. It looks like that would test every bit of the Aspire skills I am working on (and don't have yet). Thanks for posting.

Thanks again all!

Angie, I got to play with a lot of Aspire's features on that. The logs have a texture done via creating a texture toolpath, previewed it. I then used the "Create Component from Toolpath Preview", adjusted the thickness of the texture component, then "laid" it over the plain log-shape sweeps. Man, I love Aspire - so fun! Still working on developing my own skills too - I seem to discover something new every project.

I'm new to this forum. Is it possible to download the files to this project somewhere?
Thanks for any input.

Hi Travis,

Thank you for your question. The Hunter's Cabin Birdhouse is exclusively compatible with the CarveWright CNC system. If you own a CarveWright CNC, then you will be able to open and run the project files. Otherwise, it won't run on any other CNC (licensing and compatibility is proprietary to the CarveWright).

Here is the link where it can be purchased and downloaded, but again, unless you own a CarveWright CNC, you won't be able to open or run the files.
