Editting a CRV file

Post by Rusty »

Hi All:
I sure wish VCarve had some serious vector editting tools.
Here's my challenge.
I have a CRV file gotten from one of many free files off this forum (thanks) that I need to edit & modify but can not seem to find a good way to do this. Tried exporting the file as EPS & opening it in CorelDraw, but no luck.
Would appreciate any ideas/directions.
Thanks.
Rusty

Have you tried exporting as an AI file and importing into Corel?

Hi Rusty,

In Corel Draw use the option Import PS, PRN, EPS Postscript Interpreted

That should get you going.

Tony:
That worked, got it into CorelDraw.
Is this the right format to do editing/modifying of the picture?
I can select objects & delete them but how to I cut lines, delete the areas I don't want then tie in new lines & objects?
Thanks.

Rusty, VCP will allow you to edit the way you speak of...I take it you need more then that for your file.

right click on the span, insert a point, cut the vector, then delete the span then close the vector...

I've haven't node edited in Corel...is it easier? I'll have to give it a shot..

CRFultz:
CorelDraw is not very user freindly as well. It would be nice if VCarve could edit more like a drafting program. The CRV file I am trying to edit has very thick lines so when I try to put it in TurboCad if appears that there is a whole lot of closed polylines making up the thick lines. Very confused.
Is there a way to go over or trace that CRV file so it would be only single lines/vectors, then delete the existing mumbo jumbo.
Is there any tutorials dealing with free-hand drawing & editing of vectors?
Thanks all.

have you tried centerline trace in corel...you can reduce the number of nodes in the settings
