Community member Jim Anderson (jimandi5000)

Post by Mark »

It is with great sadness that we have to inform you that
one our most respected community members, Jim Anderson, passed away earlier this month.
Jim will be known to many regular readers of this forum.
Jim wrote and freely published many Gadgets at the request of his friends here on the forum.
Jim was a constant source of help and encouragement in his many posts.

I am sure that I speak for all when I say that he will be greatly missed.

Our thoughts are with Jim's friends and family at this time.

Rest in peace Jim, from your friends in the Vectric community.

He has done so much for the Gadget community. It will be a big loss to the forum.

Flipping Hell!
I'm quite new on here but felt as though I sort of knew him.
I'm shocked.
If someone is able to could you please pass on my deepest sympathy.

Jim

I hope he did not have what I have been fighting for almost 2 years now.
I do use some of the gadgets from Jim.

Just to be clear, what happens below is my fault, I did quit smoking 24 years ago, but it sill got me in the end.
stage 4 brain cancer and added to that is lung cancer.
I have been mostly stable for the last year, no advances and no new spots.
They have told me I will never be cancer free, just extend life.
fighting one small spot in my lungs, but main Dr thinks it is nothing.
2 brain surgeries, radiation and chemo are behind me for now.
I do keep up with all the software upgrades, but have not been able to run the machine for over a year.
After the last surgery i pretty much stay away from machines that could take a finger off.
My memory took a big hit from second surgery and I find myself having to relearn a lot of things.
The thing that really bothers me the most, is when I am in treatment, seeing some very young kids getting the same treatment I do.
the radiation lab treats around 150 people a day
chemo often is many more per day.
Cancer is a bigger pandemic as far as i think.
Right now I have 4 people in my family fighting cancer.

Nuf about that, I do try to get to this forum daily and I am trying to program new things.
I get a lot of new ideas from here and need to thank everyone here for that.

thanks, Paul

Keep going Paul.
I too gave up smoking 24 years ago. (100 per day)
As far as I know I just instantly got fat. Nothing else yet but at 70 I have all the same bits going wrong as any other 70 year old.
My best to you and my best to Jim's family.

Jim

Aging is an ongoing challenge all in itself!!! It is great to get to the Senior years but I will admit it is not fun being there in some aspects especially the body aging part!

I am already missing Jim and his knowledge of the LUA coding. He was a treasured asset on this forum.

I have downloaded all of his Easy Gadgets for I do not know how long his website will be online. I believe it would be great if Vectric could put his Gadgets (as is) on their website honoring Jim. This way the Gadgets will carry on in his Honor.

I'm saddened to hear of Jim Anderson's passing. My heartfelt sympathies go out to his family and friends.

What impressed me about Jim was his desire to learn new things. I have been privileged to have personal messages here and personal e-mails there asking: How do I do this? Can this be done? and more. I can sympathize with that and I hope that I never lose the desire to keep learning new things.
