text on a curve not cooperating

Post by Songweaver1 »

I made a line of text... I made a circle.... I cut the circle in half and deleted the bottom half... I selected the text ...held down shift...selected the half circle and clicked on "wrap text along a curve".... It did not activate. The window opened to the right place but I couldn't adjust anything... (not highlighjted)..
Any suggestions my friends?

Wrong order. Select text on curve function. Then select text. Then shift+select curve.

You may have accidently duplicated the arc vector and have them both selected. That won't work - you'll get the Text on a Curve screen but everything will be greyed out. Only one curve can be selected for Text on a Curve to work.

Other thing to watch for is that the text is actually text. It has to be text created by the text tool in VCarve not imported vectors or text converted to curves.

I selected The curve text feature ... the txt line and then the curve.... still greyed out.
I checked that there is only one text line and one curve selected and chose Wrap text feature.. still greyed out....

It has to be a single line of text.

Use the Distort tool when working with more than one line of text.

The Text on Curve tool will only work with one line as said.

You need to select the text, right click on the text and select Break Text Block Into Lines. Then you can put a single line on a curve.

I tried it both ways. Both worked. The only difficulty is that if you select the text and curve first, the text initially will be placed in the default location and you may have to change the settings to put it where you want it. Of course you have to do that anyway.

The text in the file you uploaded is multiple lines of text so as has already been said the text on a curve tool will not work & you should look at using the distort tool.

As FixitMike has said with the text in your file it needs to be broken into single lines & then you would only be able to use the tool for one line at a time

Presumably you broke the text into lines though?
