Laser Z axis

Post by Joycey »

Not sure if this has already been mentioned but...
In the laser module it would be really helpful if the Number of passes >1 were to have the option to have Z depth increment for each extra pass.

When cutting with the laser head, this extra option would bring the laser focal point to the top of the next cutting level, Increasing the sharpness of the cut and decreasing the burn of the out of focus pass.

This focal depth issue has to be manually adjusted at the moment at each pass, I think it would be a great assett for the program if it had this extra option.

Could this be added in a future update?

John.

As Rcnewcomb says, send to vectric support. I've sent several items. All they say is they will take it under consideration, but that's to be expected.

You can simulate that feature, but you'll have to create multiple toolpaths and change the depth in each one.

On my JTech 7W laser, I can't tell any difference in the burn in more than a 1/2" of Z travel. It seems to have a large depth-of-field.
