Portable Chess Set W/ Storage

Post by RM-Wood »

Winter Project Complete, King is 5.5" tall on 2.5" squares pieces weighted and felted, overall board size is 20"x 20".
Wood is birds eye maple and Black Walnut.
I'm getting a leather tote built from a saddle shop to make it portable and for protection.

Very nice. I made this set a while back and sold it very quickly at a Farmer's Market. I also made a custom set with animals that was a take off from this set. The customer wanted animals that they had worked with in their careers. A lot of time and work, but customers were very pleased. Thank goodness it is only a hobby for me. I didn't get nearly as fancy with the board, but yours is exceptional. Your pieces look very good as well. Thanks for sharing.

Very nice work! Very impressive combination of CNC and manual craftsmanship.

I presume the pieces were made using double sided carving method. If so, this is a very good example of the technique.
I saw mention of the 'files'. Where would I find the 'files'?

I have plans for the board w/storage and can make a plaster of paris mold for casting the drawer embed w/rubber epoxy.
I have converted the vcarve files to mm and added two piranhas per cut also.
If you would like these plans and mold PM me.
