Michael Tyler’s “Pierced Tin” Tea Chest/Tissue Box

Mama wanted a tissue box holder that she couldn't knock off her night stand.
Michael came to the rescue with his POM Pierced Tin Tea Chest.
Sorry Michael but I modified one of your projects, again.
Made this one with scraps of wood I had lying around. Maple, Cherry & African Walnut.
I mitered and splined the box corners. Made brass hinge pins and cut a recessed oval on the underside of the lid so the tissues would pull out easily. I did maintain his pierced metal look although I had to rearrange things slightly to account for the oval cutout in the top.
Also, instead of cutting the deco then daubing the metallic paint on (Avoiding getting paint into the carvings) I opted to seal and paint the top then carve to deco.
