Re: Resin inlay - getting through the Christmas list
I Love it !!! I haven't tried two colors next to each other, I am a little apprehensive about that. You seem to have mastered it with what I have seen !! I think the main reason is, impatience .Anyway, great job I too am getting closer to having my list complete.

Re: Resin inlay - getting through the Christmas list
A question for all you resin inlay guys.
From what I have seen, most users are using Epoxy Resin for their resin inlay projects. Anyone using Polyester Resin.
I’ve used polyester resin for years laying up fiberglass models and like to shorter cure time as opposed to the longer cure times with epoxy resins.
Your thoughts

Yes patience is required... I am currently doing a 6 color inlay.... plenty of other tasks in the shop to do while the resin cures.woody53 wrote: ↑Mon Nov 30, 2020 1:33 pmI Love it !!! Re: Resin inlay - getting through the Christmas list
Well I answered my question. Did not like the results with Polyester Resin.
When using it as a fill for inlays it shrinks considerably and has a very dull finish when cured. Maybe it didn’t like being mixed with the pigments I am using.
Oh well, nothing ventured, nothing gained. I guess I can live with the longer cure time with Epoxy Resin.
