Vector lines versus what the bits cut

Hi,

You mentioned your Toolpath previews looked alright. If so, that’s a mystery why the actual cut was different.

Will you upload your actual crv file here (or, if too large, upload to DropBox or other free service and post a download link).

I think it’s time we see your actual file to be able to offer more targeted advice as to what may be going wrong.

Unfortunately out of frustration I started over multiple times since and don’t have the file any longer, another valuable newbie lesson.

It sounds like my mistake was using the “pocket” with em and bits on top and bottom layers?

Hi,

We can’t really know for sure without seeing the file itself.

Perhaps you’ll make a new one at some point in the future. Hopefully, “trouble free”!

Hi,

Here is a link to a video that will guarantee your success for what you are doing. The steps are easy and straightforward. The only thing I DON’T like about this video is the person who made it “disses” the Vectric drawing tools at the end where he shows you how to determine the offset amount for the vectors. (He says he prefers a CAD program to do that, but I think we all know that the drawing tools in the Vectric products are clearly up to that simple task!!)

One of the great things about the software is the toolpath preview, learn to trust it because it is very accurate. if the toolpath preview is correct then you can be sure the project will be as well provided you do everything else correctly

You can mess around, make changes, try different bits all without wasting any material or the time it takes to cut. Has helped me out a lot with the projects I have done
