Diode Laser Attachement

Post by naijin »

Hi there, I have attached a diode laser to my home made cnc router, all is going well so far, the laser is attached to the Z axis so that it
can be adjusted up or down to suit various job thicknesses( example engraving the lid on a box etc.) the question is once the height is determined and the tool path is created how do I stop the Z axis from moving up and down when the laser is actually engraving? do I physically disconnect or disable it? ( I know there may be a very simple answer or solution, but I don't know it yet) :? :?: :?: :?

I modified the post to create a new laser post for my machine.

Fairly simple, just remove or comment out all the Z motion. Make sure to work on a copy!

Thanks TReischl, sound simple enough if you know what you are doing, I have no idea how to even start to create or modify a
post processor, I thought there may have been something in vp pro to write a g code without the z axis being involved. :?
