10.5 and xp
aspire 10 runs ok on my old shop computer which is xp. When i try to run 10.5 , i get a error " the procedure entry point IntializeCriticalSectionEx could not be located in the dynamic link library KERNEL.32.dll."
I think it has to do with some of the virtual C librarys loaded during the upgrade.
Just a pain to upgrade the computer in case i have to make a on the fly change to a carve, hopefully mach 3 will play with windows 10

There are a LOT of people still running XP! If 10..5 will not run on XP we need to know!

Re: 10.5 and xp
Minimum operating system for Aspire and VCarve is Vista and the support pages actually say that XP is no longer supported from V10 on - http://support.vectric.com/aspire-quest ... n-software
I don't know of any other software vendors supporting XP in their latest releases so I'm actually really surprised to see posts elsewhere on forum saying that they're looking into getting it to work.

Re: 10.5 and xp
I run windows Xp with my cnc machine and mach 3, everything was great until the 10.52...53
now aspire will not run because of a missing bcrypt.dll
The version prior to this works fine

Re: 10.5 and xp
Hi Stan,
I use a very old laptop with XP as my ShopBot controller computer in the shop.
But, I have never installed any of the Vectric software on that shop computer. It’s sole purpose is to run the Toolpaths via the SB control software (I copy the Toolpaths from my “indoor” computer to a USB thumb drive and then take that to the old XP shop laptop).
It is somewhat of a “miracle” that Vectric is looking into a way to run their software on such an old operating system. But, if there is a way - they will find it!

Re: 10.5 and xp
I have the same problem. I tried on two different computers and get:
Error " the procedure entry point IntializeCriticalSectionEx could not be located in the dynamic link library KERNEL.32.dll."
All old versions up thru 10.0 worked OK, but 10.5 stops immediately with the above error.

Hi Mike,
Adrian posted a very good explanation above, as well as providing a link to the officially supported operating systems for all the various software products.
That said, perhaps Vectric may come up with XP support anyway for Aspire and the VCarve products. But, the days seem definitely numbered for supporting such an old OS in any case.

Re: 10.5 and xp
I know a lot of people are running their machines with XP and would like to have Aspire at the machine for the quick changes. I for one hope Vectric can continue making it happen for XP. I may very well just stick to the old version until I hear that happen.

Michael Tyler,
"I use a very old laptop with XP as my ShopBot controller computer in the shop."
I have a similar set up. XP has plenty of horsepower to run my CNC. I do have a "real" computer in the house, but many times need to tweak a file just before running it--very inconvenient to go up just to make a quick change.
I hope Vectric can fix this. This upgrade is really a big improvement in capabilities.
