Grill Handle

I thought I would experiment and try making a New handle for my Weber grill. I am missing something.
Why I am not cutting through both sides of the tool path?
I have attached a screen shot and the file I tried to make.

Lost as to what handle should look like! Do you have a photo or drawing of what the handle looks like?

I also decreased the stepover on the BN

I followed your changes entering them 1 at a time to try and understand how they changed the result.
I would have never found that 'Boundary Offset" effected the depth of the cut !

Sharkcutup, I am working on something like this photo. I hope to be able to carve a few friends names in them and give them as gifts, I have 2 friends that are hardcore Weber grillers.

Another question, I have seen numerous video's on using the moulding tool path. I have not found any on creating the actual moulding profile. Does anyone have a favorite videos or guides they can share?

Scott, a good place to look for profiles is a router bit catalog. There are some web sites that show the profiles and it is a simple matter to just grab the pic and use it to trace a profile you like.

Years ago I had a catalog of all sorts of victorian moldings but I gave it away. I am thinking Leo has it cause I gave him a ton of books when we moved out that area. Maybe not though.

Just to add to what Ted said, some time ago I found profiles in PDF format & when imported it turned out they were already vectors, it was a couple of years ago so sorry I can't remember where they came from so you will have to do your own searching.

While that may seem expensive to you BigC & obviously you could make yourself one cheaper for your own use BUT could you make them much cheaper if you were making them as a Business & selling them?

I haven't looked into material costs & ovioully labour costs for something like this but once those are factored in what sometimes looks like a huge profit is actually quite minimal, not saying that is the case here obviously though

Well This project has been put on hold till I learn more about tool paths, I did a practice run and my Hobby Piranha CNC does not like the 1" plunge and cut of the moulding tool path. I tried slowing my plunge rate to 10" per minute it did not mind that, I slowed the feed rate to 30" per minute and the Piranha was still not like cutting that much material. It would take forever to cut at any slower rate.

Hmmm, pass the vectors over to someone with Aspire and have them create an stl for you?
