Making Curves

Post by gkas »

I've watched many of Beki's videos where she outlines a curved shape with straight vectors, then converts them to curves. After the conversion, she will pull the shape into place.

I'm not sure if I'm missing something. My technique seems to work but am I missing some of the nuances?

1. Outline shape with vectors. I use draw polyline. I close the shape with the final connection.

2. Node edit. Hover over each segment, and hit 'B'.

3. Can now drag points and fit with control arms.

Is there a way to convert the entire shape to Bezier without clicking each node? I tried drag-selecting in Node Edit, but that is really unreliable.

thanks
Gerry

Draw with a polyline, go into node edit mode, select everything, Press S.

Great technique. I use it all the time when tracing.

Yup - me too. Great shortcut to smooth all the selected nodes (and adjacent spans) all at once.

I was thinking about the question Michael Mezalick often asks himself when planning his Vectric software training courses - “HOW do I know this ...?”

I asked myself that question regarding this shortcut/smooth technique and recalled I had learned that from Edward (from Vectric) during a presentation he gave at a Vectric User Group, many years ago.

It’s just one of a “zillion” useful techniques we learn while attending the Vectric User Groups!

Got it :D I just tried it, and it's much faster.... I knew there was a key I was missing. S

I also just noticed that all the selected nodes turn red.
