EZ Prism Star modeling
I decided to re-post this into the Tips and Tricks section from another thread for the possible benefit to Aspire owners...
For the folks who own the Aspire software - making perfect Prism Stars is one of the easiest modeling tasks to do. If you are interested, I made a 5-minute video showing how to do it (if you don't already know). Here's the link:
https://www.screencast.com/t/udKMOOVo
Here's a screenshot of an example of a Prism Star from the video, as well as the sweep settings window (I forgot to narrate it is crucial to have the "Scale cross sections with width" selected for this particular sweep model, thus, the screenshot for reference).
The video is about 5-minutes - but, it only takes maybe 20-seconds to do with no talking!

Re: EZ Prism Star modeling
Thanks for sharing this Michael as it brought up another question I've struggled with several times.
I would like to have at my finger tips (and bookmarked) a more clear description of what the difference is between the 2 options (Scale with Width AND Sweep Between or leaving them both on or both off). I've read the Help Files but am still somewhat unclear.
When I do my two rail sweeps, I flip between the two sometimes and see no difference. I do not do a lot of modeling so I forget so I just keep flipping them on/off or just leaving them both off or both on???
As you are one of the "gurus" would it be too much trouble to explain or maybe provide a link to a video or documentation.
Thanks a bunch...I'm always impressed with your skills and design.
Your help on this forum is greatly appreciated, especially by a hobbyist like myself.

Thats very cool Michael. I haven't played with those features so far.
NOW, let's see you map the Aztec Calendar dxf to it.

The "Sweep between spans" only has an effect IF you are using two or more profile cross sections AND if each of those cross sections have the same number of spans (vector sections/nodes).
If neither of those conditions exist, then it makes no difference whether you have the "Sweep between spans" active or not. I'll try to think up a good example to show you and make a video sometime today or tomorrow. I know just describing this feature is nowhere near as useful as actually seeing what the feature does and how it is applied!

Re: EZ Prism Star modeling
Mapping the vectors is an easy one click operation other than selecting the model then selecting the vectors to be mapped onto it. The Vectric software math-magic behind the operation boggles my feeble mind.

Thanks for the reply Michael. Seeing an example would help greatly.

Hi Mitch, mfirlott wrote:Thanks for the reply Michael. Seeing an example would help greatly.
I made a video this morning (before leaving for church) showing how the Sweep between spans works and some more misc, stuff. It should answer the basic questions you may have. Apologies in advance...I recorded totally off the cuff and unscripted, the video runs for almost 9-minutes.
Here is the video link:

Thanks, Michael. That was a great overview of the two-rail sweep and its major features.
