Aztec Calendar
Hello Guys and Gals,
I recall reading several years ago during a major Aztec Calendar push, that one of the members of this site at the time had posted a file that would modify the .dxf to output a calendar that was domed. I have done a search through the forums here and cannot find any ref to it anymore. I had downloaded it but that has been many miles a few computers ago If any of you have it and can share with me or point me in the right direction, that would be awesome.
Have a great day and happy carving

Re: Aztec Calendar
My website's Downloads folder has the files for Aztec Calendars. In Aspire, you can create a domed shape of your choice, then map the vectors onto the dome with one click of the appropriate button and generate the results you are looking for. There are Mayan Haab files there also, both 2d and 3d model versions.

So can someone please educate me? I know beauty is in the eye of the beholder, but why are people so interested in Aztec calenders?

Re: Aztec Calendar
Well, mostly because we all know that the Aztecs were actually aliens from outer space and we are descended from them, a primal sort of situation.
BTW, as happens quite often, the aliens dropped me off last night about 3 AM. Took a while to get to sleep again.

Did you visit Roswell, NM or Area 51? We use to have some here in a hanger at Wright-Patterson AFB too.

Because they are impressive when mapped onto a guitar top panel, ohiolyons wrote:So can someone please educate me? I know beauty is in the eye of the beholder, but why are people so interested in Aztec calenders?

Re: Aztec Calendar
Thank you for all the replies but I already have the files for the calendars themselves. What I'm looking for is a stand alone program that was out there where you would load in the gcode into and it would spit out a modified code that had just a slight dome on it.. Just can't recall where I originally downloaded it from. may have been from cnczone.

Re: Aztec Calendar
If you have Aspire why would you need that program? It's so easy to just make a dome and project the v-carve toolpaths onto it.

I think mostly because they are cool and intricate, they lend themselves well to a variety of projects and materials and make good eye candyohiolyons wrote:So can someone please educate me? I know beauty is in the eye of the beholder, but why are people so interested in Aztec calenders?

While I do have Aspire and can easily do this, I have a friend that does not have Aspire and it is a bit out of his budget at the moment Was looking for this doming program for him for something to play around with as he gets into the cnc world.
