Parametric designs
Parametric designs have been around for some time but I still become hypnotized when looking at them.
While trying to come up with some challenging topics for my Advanced Aspire class, I decided to see if making these style of work was possible using only the Aspire software.
Here’s my first attempt at a proof of concept design.
67 individual pieces of plywood were used to create the undulating background.
Most “wave” patterns are possible, and for each single “rib” of wood, the “Z” measurement is only limited by the largest dimension of the X or Y axis.
More designs to follow....

Very creative Michael, I really like the look.
Did you sandwich the pieces of plywood together and machine the surface as one block?

Highpockets,
I figured out how to cut each slice....that way you could create very large designs.
My table is a 4" x 8",,so I could create a piece that protrudes out from the wall 48"..
Mighty hard to do that from a single block of material.

Re: Parametric designs
I't a bit difficult to tell but it looks to me that they are 2D cut pieces aligned vertically.

Re: Parametric designs
Here's a picture of the vectors.
The problem is, how to guarantee that the shape will come out as expected ?
