Irish Blessing Plaque

Post by 01f4irider »

I made this for my wife's birthday tomorrow. I still haven't clear coated it but I wanted to post to ask what everyone thinks.

Great work! Love that shamrock on the ends, carved it many times. Makes a great 3D weave. She’ll love it.

Excellent! I’m impressed with how well the letters turned out. It’s often a “chipout challenge” when cutting small text. It appears you dialed-in your feed/speed just right to avoid any major problems. Congrats!

Nice plaque... Both the lettering and the carving are really crisp. What is the wood? Birch? Did you paint, then sand down?

Thanks:) Its cherry wood and I used my favorite product for masking, Oramask 813. I can't say enough good things about that stuff. It carves so nicely and makes painting so much easier.

That's a very good job of masking. I find that the 813 can lift a very tiny bit in places. I've not worked with cherry, so it may be that the finish may be very smooth. Thanks for the info.
