Nice to wake up to Randall...and funny as you've inspired me so many times,AND turned me onto the small Chinese TBNs :)

How did Redwood take detail?
Is that one of the TINY .125" TBNs? (Which R tip is cutting Finish path?)
Also curious what feeds you used on Gary's Ultimate on that small piece.

IF possible please show Large Close-up pics.
VERY interested! :)

Also funny that as You go small, I FINALLY found a model Mom likes of an antique Harley at the old pumps at 3dwave.org and bought it yesterday, and am in prelim stages of doing maybe my Biggest carving that may be HUGE at 8X12.5X1.98 INCHES! :D (I'm going to be scared of the cut times I know!)

Hope you liked the results (AND cut time:) .
Thanks again for giving my morning a GREAT start Randall!!

(JUST about to start cutting a 3" Child Angel on Maple branch that's already jigged...she has feathers/hair/fingernails and Toenails!!! :) )

You Guy's are Too much !! I have always liked Randall's work and suggestions and Scott's teeny , tiny pieces. Like Scott says Randall, please show some close up pics as I am interested also. Scott please show the Harley when you get it done. That will be a great looking carve.

Morning Scott,

Also funny that as You go small, I FINALLY found a model Mom likes of an antique Harley at the old pumps at 3dwave.org and bought it yesterday, and am in prelim stages of doing maybe my Biggest carving that may be HUGE at 8X12.5X1.98 INCHES! (I'm going to be scared of the cut times I know!)

Better pack a lunch when you start cutting as I'm sure the cut times will be MUCH longer than what you are used to.

OBTW, thanks for the tip regarding 3dwave.org. I just found my next project......

Hey Ron,
Yep...doing a prelim Finish toolpath with the .25mm TBN now as Mom's dropping off some stuff this morning(and sure she wants to see Something:)
Will probably post a long rambling Thread with boring details Dave! Mom's father opened a Harley shop in the 1920's, so she grew up right next to the Harley shop.
Gramp had some great Harley stories...."Weekend Boston trips were Great!! Once you got to Portland it was TAR ROAD ALL the way!!" :D

Great site if you love detail!
2 days ago bought the Angel, and 2 Critter models from the site and Racoon was a whopping 222mb...
2020-01-19 14_37_08-RACCOON – 3dwave.org 3D STL Files for CNC _ Exclusive 3D STL Models _ Direct Download _ CNC.png
I LIKE how as soon as you pay the Download shows!!!
Found that site from this Forum from someone looking for Military Emblems, and someone I have to thank showed the Link :)
ALWAYS looking for models that might be good for branches/firewood with fine details!
They had it:) (first time in a bit really excited about models:)
Curious which one you bought Ron?

Yep....STILL calculating away and only 20% finished....THAT will be a Looong day!! :D

HOPING Randall had a good cut!!!
VERY pleasant holding a fine detail model in your hand...and even better to see other people's reactions when they hold it and inspect!!
Careful Randall!!
VERY addictive! :)
I've learned my lesson well. You can't please everyone,so you have to please yourself

As a retired Army man I stand totally corrected
By no means was I trying to hijack Randalls post and thread.
I guess my excitement over the work you both do got the
best of my mere mortal mind.
But then again if your not excited by what you see and do
maybe it time to look at a new hobby.

Best Wishes from the middle of the Country

Randall is a great guy and inspiration to me when I started as a total Newbie on the Shopbot Forum and here Jay.
If Anybody started stomping on his Thread it's Me....and Randall should know by now I ain't got no internet manners at ALL!

Maybe Randall is happy to see all the Inspiration HE is creating!!
(of course I'm waiting for a fiery PM that will burn my ponytail off :) )

Actually there are comments and links to 3D sites, but they're scattered all over I think?
MIGHT make a good Thread Jay!
I get inspired by lots of stuff on this Forum!
And excited about stuff even after 5 years is a "Good" thing!

Sincerely apologize for taking yakking on your Thread Randall
Blame it on sleep dep/insufficient caffeine/ and no manners to speak of because I don't get out much in snow and -3F :)

Hope the cut came out well?
Never cut Redwood so interested!!
I'll shut up and finish Rough Finish cutting my Angel.
DID get Mom's Harley finish toolpath calculated Ron...51 HOURS....think I better start thinking like the Big Boys now! (she loves it though)

Rude,Crude, and Obnoxious

Randall, I'll 2nd the request on larger pics. My eyesight isn't what it use to be.
I, too, have learned a lot from you and Scott. I'm thinking about doing something in teeny tiny just to use the bits that I bought a few years ago. I do recall that I wondered how long it would take to cut anything with them. 51 HOURS is a long time. Not sure I could have the patience for such a long run. Still recall when I had a fire after a job was cutting for just 35 minutes. That was with a different CNC and the change in the sound of bit heard by my wife let us know something was going Terribly wrong.
Anyway, I'm off to the shop to find some wood to make one of those oval boxes.

All you blokes inspire me and at the same time I get so envious of the work you do that I have to go out and try to get half as good. Havn't really done anything that matches you all so I will keep trying.

The bit is a tapered ballnose with a 0.5mm radius on a 0.125" shank

The carving was about 0.47" into the redwood 2x4

A ruler for the size reference

Total machine time was just under an hour.

Congrats on first Tiny Russell! :)

Thanks very much for the close-up and details!
Redwood took detail better than I would have thought:)
(good to know, as I usually stick with denser, close pored wood)

Good Job!! :)

Randall, thank you for the larger pics. The piece looks incredible. I really like how the darker graining give one the impression of blood on the forehead from the thorns.
