Drawer Knobs
Drawer Knobs
My first post. I made a changing table/dresser for my new grandson Levi. I made custom drawer pulls from the African Safari collection (purchased from D&M). I simply bought inexpensive 2" wooden knobs from big box store. I put them on my lathe and turned the face flat. I made corresponding CNC routed animal "overlays" in cherry. Epoxied them to the drawer knobs and re-turned them flush. A little sanding, dye stain and lacquer finish and they were done. I could have turned the entire knob, but that would have taken time away from being with Levi. So I "cheated" a little. Next up - making some wooden CNC routed wall hangings for my new buddy! I will use the Safari Collection to make these for his animal/jungle themed room.

Re: Drawer Knobs
Welcome
Knobs are a Nice touch to that Beautiful Piece!!
Have to ask though if that's a veneer piece?
Noticed figured Maple corner/top(?) and sidepiece could very well be bookmatched figure Maple as well. Hard to tell but top drawer face wood in one spot looks like it was faired in.
Really beautiful piece!
But can't place the drawer face species?
Kudos! +1

Re: Drawer Knobs
Thanks scottp55. It is veneered. The sides are curly cherry veneer. I also used it on a cradle I made for our first grandchild. The drawer fronts are quilted bubinga veneer. I use a vacuum press table. I am new to CNC routing and am excited about the additional features it will allow me. This forum is so helpful in getting me started.

I like it!
Reworking those knobs isn't "cheating". It just makes good sense.
