Boy, these new AI Quantum CNCs are GREAT!!
Needed a rush memorial plaque for a Town Nurse that passed after 40 years of serving the town, but didn't want to spend very much time (she only saved my life one after all).
LUCKILY I had just bought a spray can of "Miracle CNC"
($19.95 plus shipping and handling on the shopping channel)!!
Just sprayed the whole machine, answered a bunch of stupid questions, and then just said "You just do the best you can"...
Hit the Auto-Carve button after tossing a chunk of firewood on the table; And look what popped out!! MUCH BETTER than what I was doing with clamping, changing bits, files and junk!!
It DID throw an error when I tried to plug in "oil rubbed finish"...so guess I'll do that myself....maybe in V2?

Hah! Just HAH!!!
I use an HP 41C for all the heavy lifting, if it was good enough to get the astronauts to the moon and back it is good enough for me!
(Actually have one sitting in a closet on the shelf, only thing missing is the little sticky HP logo thingy.)

"The Large print giveth...............................and the small print taketh away"
DARN..........way down at the bottom "24 hour warranty" JUST as I was trying to figure out a firewood hopper feed!
Sure enough, went out and fired up machine and had to press buttons to do all the old Z-Zero routines and spindle warm up MYSELF!!
Dang.......have to go back to the old fashioned primitive VCP10 and a regular blue CNC methods.
Thanks for all the comments!!!
scott
Halloween here was more "Trick" than "Treat"....winds finally died down and power is hopefully stable now(fingers crossed).

Nice work as always, Scott. You work wonders with firewood. Whenever I deal with firewood it comes out like charcoal.

Re: Boy, these new AI Quantum CNCs are GREAT!!
OK....If my friend Graeme misunderstood...I better straighten it out.
First pic is not what I carved this from.
I did the whole project without taking a pic until it was finished..so first pic was of it completed, so I did the spoof for fun as if it just Happened
That first pic IS a piece of firewood from the pile at Libbys Camp(fly fishing), and I've been working on it for a "Buddha Cave 20" 3D carving on side shown(it was the first firewood pic I came across)
Seeing as you guys will be seeing that piece, IF I ever carve it...just thought I'd straighten that out(prep work is almost done). Judy's piece was from some Birdseye that's been in the rafters 20+years....and had a friend drag a couple down.
THIS piece was so Twisted/Warped/cupped...Atlantic Hardwood refused to run it through their planer
I had to cut it into three 2' sections, and 2 6"sections just so I could S2S it on Desktop...and as this was a rush job(Judy's "Celebration of Life" is tomorrow)...
I was looking for a piece ready to go.
A Walnut Branch was first pick....but work area was just too small(and didn't know how her kids felt about bark and live edge), so grabbed one of the 6X5X1.45" Birdseye S2S pieces,
and proceeded to belt, RO, and hand sand to what you see.
DANG....I was hoping somebody would look gullible enough to buy my voting shares of the Brooklyn Bridge
Not many fools in this forum!!
Sorry for any confusion, BUT glad if it brought any smiles from my warped/twisted/cupped sense of humor

Re: Boy, these new AI Quantum CNCs are GREAT!!
VERY well received:)
Also Very glad I usually bring everything to 600G before oiling/waxing!!
After a hug from the daughter...she kept stroking the top end grain like a cat...and telling everybody to "Feel It!"
People introduced themselves afterwards, with "Are you the wood worker?" "How did you get that feel to it" It even got me a ride home...which is good, as the 2 mile "Wheel ...with last half mile being dirt road..woulda truly tuckered me out going back home!
5X5.5X1.3" in Maple had just the right heft, to be maximum size to be handled easily for a spell by Judy's daughter in the reception line.
It sure got it's share of "Hand Rubbing" that day
