Multiple Clearance Tools - Coming Soon to Version 10

Post by Stephanie Downing »

Here's another sneak peek at what's coming soon in Version 10...

The VCarve toolpath will support multiple clearance tools for more efficient area clearance. This can help shorten machining time and reduce tool wear.

Using multiple tools means you can use a much larger area clearance tool and intermediate V-Bit tools to ensure that the fine detail tool only needs to remove the smallest amount of material possible. :D

Nice, next I want the similar thing for the 3D Finish tool path. Start with a larger TBN bit and do all the remaining detail with a smaller TBN bit. I want this for Vcarve Pro which does not have REST Machining capability

This would be a nice feature to add to the pocketing toolpath, too...there are often situations where, for example, there is raised lettering in a pocket that has tight spaces, but larger surrounding areas that could benefit from more than one size of tooling for clearing.

If Version 10 does not include the capability to use multiple tools to do a pocket, one could cheat by using a VCarve toolpath and specifying a Vbit with a .5 degree angle, plus the end mills desired, and then simply ignoring the Vbit toolpath.

Trying to upgrade to v10. site asks me to select a free project, but there is no way to add the freebie. What am I doing wrong?

Hi Ron,

All you need to do is click on the blue trolley of the model project you would like to choose. Then click on the check out button on the right hand side.

If you have any issues please email support@vectric.com.

Thanks
