VCarve makes mistakes in the calculatings -but why?

Post by figurenholz »

Hello from Germany

I Love my VCarve Pro and work with it each day since many years but now I have a big big problem with it.

I do one thing I had do 1100x and more but now the calculating of the toolpath goes wrong. :?:

I have a conture and a router bit should follow this line.

I setting a cutting depth of 5mm and in G-Code comes 6mm
If I make from 5 to 4 mm to get a conture 1mm deeper I get a G-Code with 7mm depth???

Whats wrong?

Normally I tahe the zero of my parts at the top side but here I must take it at the bottom side because the material POM is over 10mm and so I must roughing it before to get my 10mm

Why is the depth in GCode another then I set in?

You're setting the Start Depth of the toolpath rather than the Cut Depth.

Yes, it is a disc cutter and it should follow the contour and make a lateral groove in the material

Then the toolpath isn't calculating incorrectly. When you're zeroing from the top of the material all the z moves are negative so if you cut 5mm deep you would see a Z move of -5 in the code. As you've zeroed from the table surface all moves are positive as a negative move would go through the table. So a start depth of 5mm in material that is 11mm thick needs a positive move of 6mm.
