Nice can't wait to see as it progresses. Hard to top the 1911 though.

Re: Thompson 1928 Commando
Well, finally finished..
Need to make wall holders for it...
Made this whole Thompson on my little sherline mill, which can only do max size of 7" x 14".
Better photos coming..
It is all made in the pink foam from my local Menards.
It took one full sheet 2" sheet and about a 1/2 sheet of 1" foam.
There are some 3D printed parts too!
Enjoy...

Just like some of your other projects, that goes over the top. Great looking job. I don't remember a Thompson Machine Gun being that big. Is it used by Giants?

Re: Thompson 1928 Commando
You need to make 50 rounds of 25.4 mm (1") to display with it. That looks to be about what the barrel is scaled to. Excellent project.

I like how you painted the tip of barrel Orange, wouldn't want anyone to mistake it for real Thompson
great Job

Re: Thompson 1928 Commando
I missed the part in the first post where you said the gun was scaled to .90 caliber. Just saw it this morning.

Re: Thompson 1928 Commando
What kind of bits, feeds and speeds (approximate) do you use to mill the pink foam? Does it melt if you go too fast? How do you prep the foam for paint?
I'm interested because my son wants (3) 22" x 44" 3D wall panels. I thought this might be an inexpensive way to test out some different panel patterns.

Re: Thompson 1928 Commando
Just regular bits...
No roughing pass.
And you can go fast....
I epoxied the parts before painting...(just for strength on the gun)
But not really needed...
I just use Latex paint from lowes, and you can get any color and they come in small containers.
