Edgelit Angels

Post by dwilli9013 »

Latest edgelit I completed for a friend of a friend. The guy lost his wife to cancer released some balloons and is having a difficult time letting go. Not a paid job, just helping out a friend.

Material= .375 cast acrylic 12 x 12 Base 6 x 14 Red Oak sandwiched with electronics and leds in between. Shellac and paste wax finished power buffed.
90° diamond drag bit used for entire panel. Incredible detail with the diamond drag bits.
I do agree with another forum member it is quite nice not having to hear the spindle with the drag knives just the gentled hum of the servos.
This panel took about 3 hours all total with the border being cut with and Amana 1/4 0 flute bit at 8000rpm 40 IPM.
All in all fun piece for a good cause.

This is a a beautiful tribute that your friend is sure to appreciate each day! The simple and clean base helps focus attention on the detail on the angels and heart at the center. Thanks for sharing.

Beautiful work Dwayne!!! A great remembrance that I know your friend will cherish.

Thanks for sharing your creations and procedures. I have got to try out my drag bit! It's just sitting there waiting for a round-to-it....

Beautiful!

The detail is great and it certainly looks peaceful to me.
I love making these acrylic signs and I couldn't agree more about the drag bits, there a great addition to any CNC shop.
