What is the moisture content of the wood when you cut it?

wood needs to be dried a lot more. Are you using native wood? How are you storing wood prior to use?

Warping, splitting, and shrinking are usually due to moisture content. Dale had some good insights to how he handles moisture content issues in this thread: ->Link

It's hard for me to be sure from the pictures, but, it looks like you're not leaving enough thickness. That, with the possibility of not-dry-enough wood, could be the problem.

Thank You all for the kind response. the timber moisture is between 12.5 and 19.7. This might be part of the problem and also the thickness of the timber. I am going to change all this and see the difference. thanks for the hints.

Regards
Jane.

That's almost certainly it. Back when I did cabinet making for boats I wouldn't start machining until the wood was down to 10%.

I process all my own wood from the tree to the finished product and always take the rough lumber down to between 6 - 8 % moisture, leaning toward 6.
