and the winner is

Post by Gerry Perrault »

I was commission to do a Golden Oscar statue, for a reward evening for a company that do event.
The finish statue was 84'' tall made with white styrofoam .It took over 40 hours of cutting
using Aspire slice of 2'' thick.
Coverd with Styrospray 1000 ( I love this product)
Forgot to mention that i bought the design from ''Creativecrash.com
I covered with yellow paint from Behr
and finished with Gold acrylic from Modern Master.

Wow... That's got to be at least close to a Vectric record!

At least 42 slices... How about some pictures?

I don't think so, Chris.
Rather like it is a large machine bed.

Hi Gerry -

That looks great. I'm about to do my first Styrospray 1000 project on some corbels. Did you brush, roll or spray it on?

Thanks

Hi
I have use a foam brush for the first coat after it was dryed i used a regular brush .
Make sure the first coat covers all the small details then it is a question to put more layers
for adding strenght. It is a very good product and drying time like they say.
i have started from the top down and by the time i arrived at the feet the top was almost dry
for a second coat. At horizontal it settles by itself but for the vertical watch the runners you will
prefer to put some small layer.

If i had more time for that project i would have covered it with more coats.
Hope it answer your question.

My CNC is 48''x96''

to finish the subject here is a picture of what the customer did with it,
they place it at the entrance of the room and then move it inside on the stage.

oooo that is very cool. Have to explore that slicing process. Was it sliced from a true 3 D model? Curious how Aspire dealt with the front half and the back half.
