Wally, I think other people have had good luck with their Precision Collets and that would definitely be first avenue I would try. .01" would be unacceptable to me. I'll try to search for peoples personal experiences on my machines forum. You try Sharks maybe?
Have only tried Precisebits .117" 2F Fishtail upcut , but liked it and was impressed by sidewall quality in the cut(and by their return policy:) ).

2009, but pertinent as far as the Precise Collet I should think.

It says it's based on the ER-20 collet and if so it's unlike what you're used to so read instructions carefully as you have to snap collet and nut apart and clean at bit changes(compressed air 30 seconds) and then snap it back together(VERY easy actually). Hope they have your router.

I use the ER collets in a Porter Cable router and no more broken bits caused by run-out. I do a lot of cutting in wood and corian using .0313, .0469, and .0625 3-flute spiral bits. I seldom use a roughing pass, only when the first cut depth is more than the bit radius. Dale

I realize this is an old post but if anyone is researching where to buy and where to also get very small bits, (down to around .0120") then you should go to http://www.precisebits.com. They have bits for everything, but since I am a guitar builder, the pearl inlay bits appeal most to me. The site has a wealth of information on using the bits, speeds & feeds and examples. If you're a theory nut, he has tons of nerdy stuff there that will keep even those with twin pocket protectors salivating.

Good luck

Hi Wally
Unfortunately you have found the naked truth.
Those routers were never designed for precise work, they were only designed for edge routing.
If you can afford it, here is a router that works and can be fitte to the Shark

I have bought all the collets but you can just buy what you need.
It is a very precise little tool but largest shank it can take is 10mm.
Don't know what it is in inches but I guess it is around 3/4".
My smallest one is 1 mm.
Cheers
