I though I would give a little advice since so much has been given to me. I picked up some BAC Sherwin Williams wiping stain at the junk store some months ago and have been more than pleased with the results. You simply brush on and wipe off or blot what you don't need. It dries within minutes and is pretty reasonable at 40$ a gallon as it is very thin and would last a long time.

Re: Best stain ever
Your description of the stain sounds similar to Minwax stain. Have you used Minwax before?

Re: Best stain ever
Saw - what material is that plaque made of?
It looks simply AWESOME.
When I went out to Indiana Sign Camp in 2013 I learned how to mix and to apply glazes from the Pro's.
The result is very similar to what you have there.
The glazes I learned to make utilized exterior paint base and paint colors.
The browns are great but any colors will also look great.

Re: Best stain ever
I have about 5 cans of minwax stain, this stuff is a different beast entirely.
I believe it is made of hard maple, It was a piece that was laying on the floor. Glazing is something I would like to do but have not got to it yet.

Nice. Which model is that, something you did?
Re: Best stain ever
Yep! That is a production type stain!
I use a similar product from MLcampbel.
You can spray topcoat over the stuff I use in about an hour or less after application.
Good stuff!

Im pretty sure I purchased it from vector art, the background is a texture on top of a shield, both came from the aspire native library
