Tiling
VCP has an option to tile an oversized piece for cutting. Wondering if the same can be done
in cut 3D would like to try a big eagle in 3d relief and have the wing 3 or 4 ft long.

Re: Tiling
You probably don't really need to be able to tile with something like that as the wings are almost a separate part to start with. You should be able to cut the body with the beginning of the wings as one part maybe with some type of wood working joint to securely attach the wings & then each wing separately with the other part of the joint.
Sorry can't help with what sort of joint would be best for that type of work but sure one of the expert wood workers will know.

Re: Tiling
Janz,
Cut3D does not offer the option to tile large projects, however you can use Cut3D to prepare the project and toolpaths and then import those into VCP and use the tile toolpath function there.
VCP does not know what type of toolpaths it is tiling, it simply stops/starts toolpaths at the specified coordinates to create the individual tiles.

Re: Tiling
Thanks Tim, I keep forgetting about loading it to vcp as you can't edit it there but
as you say tiling can be done there. It just seemed strange that the 3d files when
opened have some crazy default sizes like 455 inches by 297 inches so just thought
there should be tiling to make use of the larger size files. I know cut 3d can rotate
and resize and tiling would be nice. Would really like to do a totem pole around 4 ft high.

Re: Tiling
My cut 3d does not offer the option of save v3m for v carve pro on the last (save toolpaths) page.
Also I noticed the tutorial mentioned shows 3d machinists program not cut 3d.
So asking again if I can tile with cut 3 d

Re: Tiling
Janz - You can do the same operation with Cut3D as 3D Machinist, to save the file from Cut3D you can just go up to "File" - "Save As..." after you have calculated the toolpaths, give it a different name to the original file to save confusion, this will have a .v3d file extension. You should then be able to import that file into VCarve Pro through the import vector icon.
Thanks
James

PM's are not enabled for all users. The facility was turned off due to spamming a year or so ago.
