Ball screw, nut lubricant recommendations?

Post by Woodbug »

I wonder what lubricant would be the best option? I use regular lithium grease. My ball screw nuts don't have grease fittings, so I just smear some grease on the ball screw and let the nut pick up the grease as it goes over it. It works, but the screws are sticky and dust sticks to them. I thought maybe trying a graphite instead of grease. Any recommendations?

After cleaning all the gritty, greasy gunk out of my ball-screws I went with a spray "dry" graphite. I had to take the entire ball-screw apart, the little balls are a joy to put back in.

Thank you. For how long have you been using the dry graphite? Do you spray is on the ball screw directly?

I use a dry silicone spray.

Do not use anything wet. The dust sticks to it and makes for an unpleasant situation.
