I like all the detail that you created for your box. Excellent job. I hinges, the handles, the stars....every thing. How did you do you dovetails?

Thank you very much. Here's a PDF file I wrote and posted on the shark forum on dovetail carving. The set up takes a little time but once done the cutting is fast and of course accurate.

WOW that is such a cool box.

I love the hinges. I made a set of hinges one time. Totally HAND tools no power at all. They are just so cool. I like the Eagle wing hinges - never thought about something like that.

I just LOVE - the MADE in USA style.

That is "in your face" Made in USA. I just LOVE it.
I know lot's of people that would love a box like that.

Everything about it is spectacular.

BillK ,

Excellent work, the whole project is just great

but the hinges and handles take the cake,

Very nice.

Your pdf file is very nice also.

What is the physical size of you box?

Bill.
Computers-Yuk....I should junk it...It never does what it should do...only what I tell it.

For this design, I loosely based the dimensions on the golden ratio, 1.618. So the sides were made from standard 1x10 material. Width of box without handles is 16 1/4 inch, depth 10.25, height with lid 10 inches.

Thank you all for your kind comments everyone!

Excellant Job Bill. Dido to all the comments. I especially like the winged hedges and the American thyme. You got me thinking now.

Thanks ALL for your kind comments. This was my first attempt at CNC dovetails and wood hinges and I couldn't be happier with the way this came out.

Just noticed I was promoted to V-carve Apprentice.

I guess that distinction has more to do with how much I type and not as much to do with how much I carve? Lol :D

I know it's been said already, but the hinges are cool enough to warrant yet another big-thumbs-up on 'em! Very clever and well done! The whole piece is nice, but the hinges truly rock.
