Cheers Bob,
It does take a little time to get over the shock but I think the new layout makes it easier to read the text of posts, with the user id on the right. Steve, Mark and Stuart have all been working hard to get a lot of content moved over from the previous server, not just the forum, but also the web-site, registration server and quite a few other things behind the scenes too.

Hi, Brian,

Will the search function work correctly on the forum now?

Are there any new features we should know about?

Thanks-
Dave

I like the new format also. Thanks for the change.

I see the need for a change. You need these on all the pages, " View unanswered posts • View unread posts • View new posts • View active topics". With out them it is not easy to navigate with out a lot of going back to the beginning.

I would also like to see a "Mark post read" So if you don't want to read every thing, you can clear the page. When you come back, only new post that you have not seen will be in the "View new posts".

You have a problem with the login. I logged in and then left the forum with out logging out. When I came back to the forum, I was listed as being logged in but the forum acted like was not logged in. Nothing was highlighted. At the top, the login but was showing.

Thanks

I'm actually finding it very hard to read threads with the new layout. There's not enough differentiation (for me anyway) between each post in a thread so they all tend to blur into one.

I always have my browser maximised so that might have something to do with it as it does seem easier if I reduce it but I've worked like that for years so it'll be hard to change!

Another little problem, it won't log in me automatically on each visit. Maybe they don't want me here

My old eyes are having trouble with the grey on slightly-darker-grey.

Great fast job moving the forum!

I do have a couple of suggestions, though:
  • The Topic Preview mod would be nice - it allows a tooltip to preview posts and is customizable.
  • It would be nice if the links in posts opened in a new window or tab, instead of the current window, requiring users to go back to the forum
  • Images in posts do the same thing. Have you looked at the ReIMG mod that allows automatic resizing with zoom, and can open them in a lightbox on the current page - much more user friendly!

The format change is fine, but the new colors are also more difficult for me to read. Also, I keep closing the window after I look at pictures, since they no longer open in a separate window.

Another thing I noticed is that, "View Active Topics" only returns 2 topics. Is it set to only display stickies?

I agree -

Also the colors are too bright - need more contrast - darker background

I was having problems with staying logged in as well. I was using a shortcut that pointed to vectric.com/forum as soon as I started using forum.vectric.com instead I could remain logged in as before.

Colors and text are tough to read... need more contrast!

I agree about the colors, the red isn't the best for me.
