New litho
Decided to do a litho of My Mother. The picture I used is a copy of an original that would now be over 65 years old. The copy was made about 35 years ago, and I scanned from the copy to my computer. I wasn't too sure how it would work, so anyone who wants to, let me know what you think. Will make a box for it and give to my son and grand kids, they never met their Grandmother or Great-Grandmother.

Re: New litho
What a treasure this will be for your family woody53. Not many have such a unique form of a photographic memory. My "girlie" side suggests this may be especially pretty in an oval shaped box frame to showcase your Mother standing so pretty and proper. Great work!

Re: New litho
That is a very nice litho. Just like sparkgirl said a nice oval frame with some kind of scrolls around it would be nice.

Re: New litho
I agree with the oval but it would be rather difficult to make.
I would make a box frame and put an oval cut-out mat in back of the litho so the light only shines through the litho.
Classic and a bit old fashioned.
Cheers
Wolffie.

Re: New litho
Would the difficulty be in the litho or the frame Wolffie? Would tabs in VCP/Aspire solve both problems ? Could you photoshop a bright oval band around the image to go to near onionskin with PVC, then dremel it out??Wolffie wrote:I agree with the oval but it would be rather difficult to make.

Re: New litho
I like the idea of an oval, if I had thought about it I could have cropped the photo in an oval. I like the idea of the oval matt in back so the light wont come through. Could put an oval in the frame, but there would now be a gap between the frame and litho. Will see what happens.
Thanks everyone, all your thoughts were a help.

To make an oval frame could be difficult unless you cut it out of one piece, the mathematics in making an oval frame can be daunting.
It would also mean placing the lights all round the picture instead of just in the bottom of the frame.
If it was my picture, I would have cropped the picture to an oval, removing the distracting background and carve just that, then place it in a rectangular frame with the lights just in the bottom.

You can put the mat in the front as well.woody53 wrote:I like the idea of an oval, if I had thought about it I could have cropped the photo in an oval. Ok, I see your point. I was assuming that it would be a one piece frame.
