How to re-size D+M Dbl Gothic Panel w/o losing perspective
I am sorry if I am in the wrong place but my question is this:
I have purchased the Design and Make Double Gothic Panel 50481.A design.
I would like to have the final design fit a panel equal to 18 inches wide by 28.5 inches high
When I re-size to this measurement it causes the Trefoils to change shape (I guess that is obvious)
But I would like to keep the shape of the trefoils and just extend the height of the panels on the bottom
I assume I have to cut the model in half and allow the software to work all sorts of magic but I have been talking to it all day and it hasn't budged!
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Yes, I am a beginner. Please speak slowly!

What software do you have? VCarve, Cut3D, Aspire?
That will influence how we can best help you.

I don't have the Gothic Panel so I just made a quick model for demonstrations. There's probable a much better way, but this works.
I took the panel and sized it to the proper width maintaining XY link.
Next I duplicated the component three times and labeled the components (Top, Center, Bottom). Names don't really matter.
Next I cut the panel into three segments using the "Clear area of select component outside selected vectors" for each component (Top, Center, Bottom).
I moved the Bottom component to the bottom of the work area.
I then stretched the Center component to overlap the Top and Bottom components just a little bit.
I then changed the Combine Mode to Merge.
Hope this all makes since.

Wow! You nailed it! That is exactly what I am after, but I have never used any of those tools, so I am tied up until Tuesday night but I will work on it again at that point. That is what I was trying to do but I couldn't find the tutorial that shows me how to cut stuff off. I think I can use the poly line tool to draw a line through it and then highlight below that line and delete it or something? I will dig a little deeper and see if I can figure out how you did that, because that is EXACTLY the result I want!
Thank you very much, I really appreciate the help.

PS. I wish there were classes just for the aspire software. Maybe when I make it through all of the tutorials things will come much more easily.

For Aspire all the tutorials for Aspire and VCP will work.
I sure the "Clear area of selected component..." is in one if not more of the tutorials I just don't remember where.
You've got the jest of how it works.
Draw a closed vector around the area of the component you want to keep, select both the vector and component and click on "Clear area of selected component..."

Ok, I am wicked close, but I cannot find the "Combine mode to merge" button. I think I might be offset by about a 1/16 of an inch, once I find that button will it line them up or do I have to go into settings somewhere so I can nudge it in smaller increments?

You really should spend sometime working through the video tutorials it would reduce you frustration level by an order of magnitude. Don't just watch them actually work along with the video.

Thank you very much. You are absolutely correct. I will start setting time aside each week to work through a couple until I get closer to amateur status! Thanks for your help. I will try not to pester the forum with things I should be able to noodle out. Thanks!
