I am using a laser to cut veneers for marquetry. They are .5mm thick.
How can I minimize the charring on the edges? I am using a 5W laser with a metal honeycomb base.
I typically cut a feed rate of 400 and power of 35%
Should I run faster or slower?
Multiple passes?
Would an air stream be worth the effort?
Thanks!

Re: Eliminating laser cut lines...
Have you tried an air assist attachment? I have it on my 14W JTech and I get little to no burn edges. What I mean by little is why I'm cutting through I may see a little, but that is all.
If you do not have one I would look into one.

Re: Eliminating laser cut lines...
I thought I would pass this along. Another user said that some used masking tape so when the laser cut through the tape it wouldn't burn the wood. This may help but he as well as I have never done this before.
