Acoustic Guitar Body Maker --- Improved Version

Post by sharkcutup »

Hello All,

Original Gadget was written by a member of this forum and then modified with some enhancements by another member of this forum. Now a Complete Make Over.

Item Changed:
1. New Guitar Body Profiles Added
2. The Gadget no longer works in Half Guitar Bodies. It now creates the entire Acoustic Guitar Body Contour Shape. I also researched for dimensional data for most of these Guitar Bodies and tweeked them to those dimensions.
3. Each Guitar Body Contour Profile has its own Layer too! So if you decide to create more than one Body Style you don't have to worry about separating them to new layers.

Continue to monitor gadget and possibly add more Guitar Body Styles.
I am assuming that the outside of the cut is for the instrument mold, and the inner portion is the waste area.
How about adding toolpaths to cut out cauls for pressing the sides against the mold?

Interesting Points and Great Idea!!!
Thank You Randall!

Come to think of it this gadget can only Profile Cut the Front and Back (with some Vaector adustments) of this for the Acoustic Guitar is a Hollow Body Guitar. Those blocks for supporting sides would be beneficial in the construction process which probably could be incorporate into each guitar design.

I am not a Guitar Builder perse but Using a Profile Offset (Thickness of Outer Walls to the Inward Direction) Vector to cut an inner construction support block and/or template to hold and/or support the sides. Maybe someone (here on the forum) who builds guitars can either acknowledge or disagree with me. Comments are always welcome!!!

While waiting on any comments on this and any other Guitar Support Ideas I will give this some thought on how feasible the above mentioned could become as an option within this gadget.

The Above is what I have so far on adding the Spreader Caul Blocks to the Gadget. One Body Style Done - Fifteen more to go!

I am not adding a Toolpath for the Postion Text -- L / R for this is left up to the user to add with their Toolpath preference.

Got a Quick Question --- Beings the inner area is mostly waste material should I move the Blocks inward away from the mold? I believe that this would be best due to the Block Toolpath Bit could scar the body profile at those locations of the mold. Comments Welcome!!!

Got Five(5) of the Guitar Style Cauls constructed into the Gadget then it dawned on me --- Is it possible to combine/use the Spreader Caul Block as a Single Unit on each Side of Body as in image noted below.

Comments welcome on this too!!!
