Version 1.45 gadget update:
  • fixed reference to undeclared items. This might be preventing running under Aspire v4.5
If you are running v1.4 you don't really need to update. But as it's easy enough to update there's no harm in doing so.

Installation Instructions

Because the forum software doesn't allow attachments with ".vgadget" extension the file is uploaded as "Tapered_Inlay v1_45.zip". Installation instructions are the same for both new installation or in upgrading a previous version:
  1. download the gadget attached below as: Tapered_Inlay v1_45.zip
  2. rename it to: Tapered_Inlay v1_45.vgadget
  3. in Vectric Pro or Aspire click on then menu option: Gadgets -> Install Gadget
  4. navigate to where the downloaded and renamed file is
  5. select it and click Ok.
VCarve/Aspire should give you a pop-up saying the gadget was installed and you should see "Tapered Inlay" in the Gadgets menu.

Note: after downloading the ZIP file do not extract it but continue on to the rename operation (unless you are running Aspire v4.5 in which you need to manually unzip and move the folder to where your gadgets are stored).

This gadget works in Aspire and VCarve Pro version 9 to 11.

I have not tried it in version 10.x but as that version uses the same toolpath selection as v11.x it should work. I have also not tested it in a version less than v9.x but I suspect it might work (though an Aspire v4.5 user is helping to see if we can get it to run on v4.5). Choose a tool and if you get no errors it should work.

Version 1.50 gadget update:
  • altered to work under VCarve 7.x & 8.x as well as Aspire v4.5
Installation Instructions

Because the forum software doesn't allow attachments with ".vgadget" extension the file is uploaded as "Tapered_Inlay v1_50.zip". Installation instructions are the same for both new installation or in upgrading a previous version:

Instructions for Aspire and VCarve Pro versions greater than v8.x
  1. download the gadget attached below as: Tapered_Inlay_v1_50.zip
  2. rename it to: Tapered_Inlay_v1_50.vgadget
  3. in Vectric Pro or Aspire click on then menu option: Gadgets -> Install Gadget
  4. navigate to where the downloaded and renamed file is
  5. select it and click Ok.
VCarve/Aspire should give you a pop-up saying the gadget was installed and you should see "Tapered Inlay" in the Gadgets menu.

Note: after downloading the ZIP file do not extract it but continue on to the rename operation (unless you are running Aspire v4.5 or VCarve v7.x in which you need to manually unzip and move the folder to where your gadgets are stored).

This gadget has been tested to work in Aspire v4.5 and versions 9 to 11 and in VCarve Pro versions 7 to 11.

I have not tried it in version 10.x but as that version uses the same toolpath selection as v11.x it should work. Choose a tool and if you get no errors it should work.

Good Morning,

The gadget seems to produce the base and not the plug. I'm sure the issue is on this end - can you take a moment and set me on the right path?

Thanks,

Jim,

No constraining vector around the house shape to make a negative positive:

Will cut the crab and seaweed as a negative shape (as per your house)

Adding a border makes a negative into a positive

I did a preliminary test with v11.5 VCarve and all seems to work fine.

There is an issue that it doesn't save the last bits used with Vectric software versions 10 and above but I already knew about that and will fix it anon.
