Hello All,

Please do not use the EasyZankToolpathMaker gadget.

I spent the day with my son testing the Gadget and it is WRONG!

I need to rewrite the gadget to work properly.

I have to time on my hands in a few days and will need something to do. So I will be putting this on the top of my list.

I am sorry if the gadget screwed up your project.
Thanks,
Jim

Hey Jim,

Just checking in to see if you have had a chance to fix whatever issues you had found in this Gadget? Just getting started in using it but obviously want it to be correct.

Please let us know when you'll have it ready.

Hi Charlie,

Yep, All of the "Easy" gadgets are mine. Please note, one or two of the Easy gadget is where I modified a "Vectric" gadget and added some functionality.

Jim

Jim:
There is a significant error in the gadget. It doesn't actually use the tool's v-bit angle and instead writes 90 as a default. See this thread: viewtopic.php?p=280401#p280401

The fix is quite easy. You can also uncomment the RegistryRead and RegistryWrite entries to allow it to save the default.

Find all occurrences of

Code: Select all

VBitAngle
and replace them with

Code: Select all

VBit_Angle
While you're at it could you change the wording on the HTML screen from "Clearing v bit" to "Clearance tool"? "Clearing v bit" is confusing as it's an END_MILL type not a V_BIT type.

Steven

PS: No offence but I really didn't like using the gadget. In a way it's too complicated. I'll put some thought into making it easier to use in the next couple of day. This would be based on my post viewtopic.php?p=280382#p280382 near the top of the aforementioned thread.
Steven,

How would I go about modifying the code Registry Read and write? What file is it that I need to adjust. Is there a gadget maker or something that I would import this file into and modify? I'd love to make the change. I don't use a vbit, I use a 6.2deg Amana bit and that is not in the list when running the program either.

Jim stopped work on this so you're probably best not to attempt to use it. So, modifying things is not really what you would be doing.

Check out this instead: Tapered Inlay Plug with Rough Clearing here. The latest version (v1.45) of that can downloaded at this post.
