Yep, kinda stinky but it works. Warm it up and drape it over something. I did air fryer one on the grill once too, almost epic fail, was too hot but it worked, a tree wrapped around a tree. Baby girl Rotties live here so I'm always a little off the chain...

I can't see any way to export my 2D toolpaths as an .stl file. If someone can educate me, I would be glad to do so.

As for 3D printing, I assume that it would be printed in one piece?? Yes?? So, again, since this is not a 3D model in VCarve, I'm not sure how this will translate into a file for 3D printing.
Unfortunately, it seems there is an error in VCarve 11.5 help. The model section describes tools that are only available in Aspire, including export as STL. I remember using it when I was professionaly using Aspire, but I can't find it in Vcarve.
It has been reported and support confirmed there is an issue in the documentation and is "currently looking into correcting this".

So unfortunately, no stl export from Vcarve

Mammaaaaa !!!

Now I know we do a lot of MAD things, but we do those things:
- in a professionally equipped workshop
- with industrial ventilation
- Health-and-Safety approved (trained staff, multiple extinguishers ready)
- and even with an emergency response officer present

Now, PLEASE,

NEVER try to modify or melt thermoplastics in a household environment. You run the risk of ruining your kitchen, house, lungs or your loved ones. It sounds sooo easy - it can go sooo wrong...

keep safe, and take care,

Marcel.

Don't call my mom, i'll get scolded
and please don't tell my wife I put strange things in the oven at 150F for 30 min (glass transition for pla)
It works good though, 150 isn't that stinky and draped a tree over an ash chunk of firewood and tomorrow will burn off the stringy things with a torch (outside)
Wonder if that would work with lexan with a window open...
wait, you have professional stuff? I do have one fire extinguisher...
this whole thing went left didn't it...

Our PMMA wholesaler: 'Cm'on, these are just esters, you know, like in perfume...'.
Me: 'Sure. And my lungs are gonna love it...'.

Our makerspace is located in a university building. We have to comply fully to their regulations. The laser has an industrial-grade exhaust - and will not even work if that is not on. Our 3D printers are in a closed cabinet with its own exhaust. We have flexible exhaust for soldering. We have tailored-to-measure extinguishers (CO2 and foam). Overkill ? Maybe, but it feels just that bit safer. And the more professional your working environment, the less sloppy you will work.

In that environment, safety is a must. The printing is actually worse as far as fumes than heating it to 150F for pla. Could always put an electric oven under one of those exhaust hoods to warp stuff...
Never smells like perfume to me, it's corn starch and other random stuff but salesmen have to sell
So I'm guessing you don't have a 10 kV transformer for Lichtenberg fun?
As a side note, I did work in a steel shop for 30+ years so my lungs are jacked and I respect the transformer but would not recommend that for students.

I think it was UltiMaker who once put a dozen 3D printers in a closed container, let 'm run for a week and then measured the air in the container.

All safe. Nothing to worry. But that was FDM, with PLA indeed (ABS might be another story, though).

We are preparing for an SLA printer and that is a different beast. Mrs. Health-and-Safety was very happy to hear we had custom ventilation.

30 years in a steel shop ? My compliments for sheer surviving. I did software development for 25+ years. Our professional illness is mere obesity.

No. It means you're drafted to sweep the floor of the Vectric office once a week

No T-shirt,

I wanna bet you don't get a wand neither if you get promoted to 'Vectric Wizzard'. Nor a pointy hat.

Cruel is the world.
