Vacuum Box Follow Up

Post by Luvtocarve »

If you haven't tried caving this 2-ply (2-color) plastic material I made the Vacuum Box for, it can be a bit of a hoot. I made some things from the scrap I had left over from the last equipment tag project, License plate for my car, refrigerator magnets and the like. If you want to give it a try, I got the materials from Scott Machine Corporation in N.Y. https://www.scottmachinecorp.com. It runs about $18 for a 12X12 piece plus shipping, and they have a bunch of color combinations. It is available with or without adhesive backing. I ran a V-carve toolpath with a 60-degree V-bit on the lettering and graphics at .018" and an engraving toolpath at .052" for the profile. You will need to finish the cut with a razor knife, but it takes very little effort. A vacuum table or the vacuum box I made is a must. I was able to use EMs or SUs for clearance tools but don't try them on the profile cuts. They pull the material up and :? :x  . Note the chip on the license plate.
