Re: Hearts
Thanks guys
Scott you will get a laugh out of this…. I am currently in COVID home isolation for 14 days after our state border closed, day 1 test negative next tests day 5 and 13…. Lots of shop time for me
Sanding is not something I enjoy and always rush to get it done…. I was having trouble sanding the inside of a heart, the mark would not disappear!!!!! Then I realised it was a shadow….did I make you laugh.
BTW always love to see your work very inspiring.

Re: Hearts
"did I make you laugh" Yep!!
Made me think of my Dad's Oopsie one day(not that I haven't done similar!).
Got a load of cribbage boards from the Northern Shop..week overdue and promised for the next day!
The biggest problem was BIG waterline marks on the cutout, and Dad wanted to "help".
Set him up on the Foredom with a 2" drum sander...showed him once how to do it,
with "The secret is to Keep the piece Moving and don't concentrate on one section!"
And I went back to work on the several other issues....when I heard a "DAMMIT!!!!! "
On one section of the Maple, the waterlines Perfectly matched up with the growth rings!
And Dad had gotten mad the "waterline" wasn't coming out, and kept sanding that spot out!!
About 3" had been sanded Past the .25" radiused edge, PLUS another 1/4"!!
He said " I RUINED it!! "
I said;
"No Dad, you were VERY diligent sanding out that split that could have expanded over years! "
I grabbed it from him and started freehanding, then 220/400/600 by hand until it felt "Graceful"...
maybe 10 minutes. Told him it was now "different" than all the others,
because he'd been so conscientious about sanding out a split.
Sure enough, when Kelly showed up at her friend's high end shop full of apologies for being late
(just below a gallery, WAY better than tourist trap next door), her friend the owner asked about that
Maple board Dad did.
Kelly only had "My" version of the story about how the owner himself worked on the split because he couldn't let it go "as is".
Started laying out the display....and a hand reached past her to THAT maple board...
the customer said "I heard that touching story...I want THIS one!" and went and paid for it.
+1 for "Creative Sanding" !
(I've got one spot on a granite countertop that's been scrubbed hours more than the rest of that counter
because of a dark spot and some black mica...and a "spot" on bathroom tile I've done the same to:)
Looked at pics closely, and I can't see Your "Spot"
That is NOT Eastern White Pine!!! It positively "Glows" Ron!!
(Fingers crossed on your day 5 test!!)
Be Well Ron!

Re: Hearts
Hello,
I am trying to figure out how you did this. I would like to apply the principles to another project of mine:-) Did you glue a sheet of pine on top of the walnut and then carve away the pine?
Any support with this is greatly appreciated by my wife.

Re: Hearts
That's the way I did it. The calculations of the material thickness need to be exact. The wood thicknesses that I used are in the file notes when you open it. I had a disk crash and didn't put all of the shared files back in the shared folder. Here it is again.

Re: Hearts
Hi Steve, I downloaded the file to find it is a CRV3D file. I can't open it with VCarve Pro V.11.... Do you have a CRV format file?

Re: Hearts
Ed,
This is a 3D project for Aspire. I can't save it as a v-carve (.crv) as the program will strip out all 3D objects and they cannot be rebuilt in V-Carve. I don't know how this thread ended up in the V-Carve section of the forum.
