Paradise Box Variation
The box is walnut with cherry inlays. Finish is BLO with three coats of spray poly. The Celtic cross on top and the weave on front and back are inset about 1/8". The ends are Zank V-Inlays. I was going to give it away, but it's found a home on the bedroom dresser. I guess I'll have to make another to give away.

Re: Paradise Box Variation
That is a really nice Paradise Box. The intermixing of the inlay with the 3D relief is fantastic. I wouldn't let got of it either. Your only problem is that you'll have to come up with some equally stylish mods so your box is still a '1 of'.

What a beautiful piece of work. Walnut and cherry are a perfect match. The inlays and V-Inlays make the piece more beautiful. Thanks for sharing your awesome work .

Dan...
What an excellent variation of the Paradise Box !!!
No room for error on the extra detail work, I would
have to keep it for myself. Very nice Thanks for
sharing.

Re: Paradise Box Variation
Thanks everyone for the kind words and compliments. The Paradise Box is such a nice project. It's not that difficult and it's easy to modify and make each one unique. I've made a few of them now and they always turn out nice. Now I need to start on my Christmas projects. I've got 2 house signs, 2 jewelry boxes, and 3 keepsake boxes to make and I better make something nice for my wife too.

Re: Paradise Box Variation
I've made dozens of these boxes and given them away, each one seems to become my favorite.
Don't forget to add one of CarveOne box tray for jewelry to your box if that’s where you going. Here’s a link to his tray addition if your interested.

I love your version, walnut and cherry look great together. I guess I need to start thinking about my next paradise box.

Re: Paradise Box Variation
Beautiful Paradise Box work Dan! I haven't used walnut on any of my projects but I have a bunch of old rough cut lumber that would have to be band sawed and surface planed and joined before doing anything with it.
I am a big fan of Celtic knots, as can be seen in my many versions of this box and other Cross projects. It has occurred to me in the past to make a tray design that has woven knots on the top edges of the compartments, but have not tried it so far. Should not be too difficult, so be my guest if you want to use my tray file and beat me to it.
