Marble Game

Post by rgerding »

A friend asked to use my CNC router to put the pockets and wording on a board he had glued together. He didn't show me how to play the game, but he said it worked out so that they could play it.

Nice job.
I think that's a form of Chinese Checkers. We use to play back when dinosaurs were young....

That game would be called "Aggravation". A similar game in Texas is "Wahoo" and generally is cut from a square for four players. In addition there is a marble location in the middle for a "shortcut" play. Same game north of us would be called "Pegs and Jokers".

I grew up with a version called "Mensch Ärger DIch Nicht" - "Man, don't get mad". And yes, it is common to lose one's temper while playing it, especially with 6 competitive players.

I'll be searching Google for instructions for these games that you fellows have mentioned. I might have to make my own marble game. However, I'm not so sure about the "Mensch Ärger DIch Nicht" - "Man, don't get mad" version. Very interesting!! Thanks for all your replies.

This game is Carbles. It has more holes than aggravation. It is big in MN. I make lots of them.

'Our' (Dutch) version is called 'Mens, erger je niet', so very close to the German version. As far as I know there are 4- and 6 -player versions. The far, far, far origin would be the Indian Pachisi. Naming seems different all over the world, rules almost universal.

Too funny! Working on some of these right now, two sided for four player and six player. My German mom (from eastern SD) calls it Sh** on Your Neighbor. Don't drink alcohol while playing or the board may get broken...
