Engraved Brass Plaque

Post by Tony Mac »

Customer Ricky Bennett (SCANCAD) is using VCW to engrave Brass Plaques and Stone Memorials on a Newing Hall Pantocut 4E with a Beyerholm & Moe Microstep controller.

This project has been engraved using a combination of 2D Pocket machining for the large text and 3D Engraving for the smaller text

Paint (Coach Enamel) is injected into the engraving to give a deep gloss and 'craftsman made' look to the plaque.

The picture shows the plaque before it's been cleaned and polished.

Do you have more info on how they 'inject' the paint into the letters? That gives a cool effect.
Take it easy.

They typically use a surgical type syringe just to control the flow of paint
into the machined pockets.

Placing the plate flat and syringing the paint in is pretty easy and assuming
you don't overfill the pocket, means there's no finishing.
