Louisiana theme wall hanging

Post by blmac5 »

The wife wanted another wall hanging to go with the Bayou scene that we've had for awhile and the Eye of the Tiger painting that our grandson picked out for us for Christmas. She wanted to keep the Louisiana theme so I came up with the Louisiana and fleur-de-Lis, crawfish, alligator and Mardi Gras mask. As with other engravings I have done I filled the engraving with coffee grounds, sealed with CA glue and sanded smooth. I then added just a little color to make it stand out.

Glenn, thanks for the comment. I take the engravings that are done with a v bit, fill them in with coffee grounds, and then soak the grounds with CA glue, let it dry and then sand smooth. Sometime you may get a small pocket where the grounds did not set and you have to go back and fill them in with more grounds, more CA glue and then sand again. It gives you a smooth solid enlay and it looks great.
