Font with mounting holes
Anyone know of a decent font like Times New Roman or similar with mounting holes integrated in the letters.
I may have to cut and install a few hundred signs as letters/numbers on doors.
Hopefully I can steer them in the direction of a small plaque.

Re: Font with mounting holes
mirror everything and drill 1/2 or3/4 geep and put your studs in
make a template with your numbers draw on paper with the holes on.
go to www.signletters.com
they sell the studs and plenty of infos.Gerry

Re: Font with mounting holes
Thanks Gerry.
Let me explain how I was planning the install.
They wanted the letters screwed on so the plan was if i could find a font with integrated mounting holes I would simply layout each sign e.g "PR 408"
starting at 0,0 in VCarve. Export a dxf file and print it in a CAD program and I would have my paper template with mounting holes. Align and level the
template with the door and mark the holes with an awl. After this screw each letter to the door and I am done.

This is a pic of the template. The letters will be exactly what is seen on the paper template.
I will trim the paper even on each side with a small guillotine and simply align on the door.
If I cannot find the font with the mounting holes I will have to build each sign character by character.

Re: Font with mounting holes
Jason,
why not take 1 compete set of numbers and characters (any outline font will do the job)
draw some mounting holes in each character and group those characters with their mounting holes.
find out how many A's B's etc etc you need and copy those number of characters on the same sheet.
If you have VCP ver.5.5 or later there is also a possibility to use the "Nesting' option.
have fun,
John

Re: Font with mounting holes
Thanks for the suggestions guys.
I was avoiding creating my own character set but it seems I have no choice.

Jason,
the sample in the picture just took me 5 minutes to create..........
looks like it is worth the effort.

Re: Font with mounting holes
Thanks guys. I will take the plunge and edit a font family and see what happens.
After Thursday I should know for sure if they want a plaque or separate numbers on each door.
