Maple Live Edge Using Design & Makeit Models

Here is a recent live edge maple piece done for a customer. Challenging but highly desirable type of project in our local arts and crafts community. It comprises mostly Design & Makeit models and a few commissioned models. Here are the details:

General:
- Maple live edge
- 1.5" thick, 40" wide, 10" at the highest point
- Tung oil with finishing polymers
- 24 hours total machining time (2x12-hour sessions)
- 3 hours total hands-on time (prep, detailing, finishing)
- Vectric VCarve Pro
- Original Longmill shipset #5 with upgraded gantry, 48" x-axis, super longboard

Reverse Side Toolpaths:
- Slots for felt pads, pre-cut for keyholes - 1/8" DC endmill
- Keyhole bit - Keyholes at 0.3" deep
- Text - 60 degree v-bit

Front tool paths:
- 3D roughing - 1/4" UC endmill
- Model outline - 1/4" DC endmill
- 3D detail - 1/8" tapered ball endmill
- NL flag - 1/8", 20 degree v-bit

VERY well done Live edge piece!!
(kinda reminds me of part of town closest to me)
Cape Porpoise...Goat Island lighthouse is just out of sight:)

What a fantastic piece.
You listed the manufacture times but not the Hours you spent preparing it and running simulations until it was correct. :wink:
