The aluminum base worked well where as ply or MDF was too flexible, next time I will try laminating the aluminum with a wood grain.
There is a fault in the inlay border where i needed to cut the vectors prior to cutting the plug to reduce timber waste, 3 of the joins were perfect the fourth a small gap.... when the wax was applied it almost disappeared.
Now onto the next project.
